Fifteen Shades of Style

voon1edit

Coco Chanel once said: “Fashion changes, but style endures”

Indeed, fashion can be just a temporary thing, something that people would follow over a short period of time. What really matters is Style.

Style can be translated as an expression of someone’s personality, and for this, it can be considered a mirror reflecting people’s characters and moods.

If you think about it, how many times have you woken up in the morning feeling sad and frustrated and you have put on dark coloured clothes? Or, how many times have you woken up feeling absolutely cheerful and positive and you’ve chosen colourful floral patterned dresses?! You don’t even realise it, but Style is part of you, and it comes out unconsciously.

The way you dress is a direct consequence of both your personality and your moods. When people talk about Fashion, what they really mean is Style.

An example of how Style depends on someone’s moods, is given by Xi Voon Tan, journalist for one of the leading Malaysian publications, who by sharing her ‘moods’ on Look-Book, shows the world how the way she feels in the morning after waking up, can actually affect the way she dresses.

Here are some of Xi Voon Tan’s shots showing the different shades of her style, depending on her mood on that morning:
