Capri, which rises in the heart of the Gulf of Naples, is actually located right in front of Sorrento and Positano. This wonderful island is not just renowned for its beautiful natural panoramas, but it also has a rich cultural heritage.

The island is reachable by either ferry or speedboat from Molo Beverello in Naples, or from Sorrento. If you’re travelling by car, you could board from Calata Porta di Massa—another pier located in Naples—as boats leaving from there allow passengers to embark their cars.

The prices for the boats depend on the kind of means of transport you’re travelling on. If you’re leaving from Naples, then the ferry is about 10 euros; if you prefer to take the speedboat, then the price is 16 euros.

If, on the other hand, you’re leaving from Sorrento, the ticket will be few euros cheaper than the two previous ones.

Boats start travelling to the island and back from early morning until late evening.

When there you could decide whether you prefer to stay in Capri—heart of the island—or Anacapri—quite area up in the mountains.

The latter is where the Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto) is located. This is a natural grotto carved by the sea, which is only reachable via boat. Once inside the Blue Grotto you can admire the fascinating “lighting tricks” that turn the grey rock into a blue surface.
