When thinking about a Canyon, it would be wrong to only picture the Grand Canyon in the U.S.
Indeed, there are so many beautiful Canyons in the world, that to limit yourself to only one, it would be a real ‘crime’!
Before showing you the numerous breath-taking Canyons that The Golden Scope found and selected for you, it is important to first understand what a Canyon is.
A canyon is a steep gorge between pairs of escarpments or cliffs, and it’s formation is due to the erosive activity of a river over geologic timescales. In other words, the water digs into the stone and creates a smooth and soft passage between pairs of cliffs, as it was mentioned above.
Usually Canyons are dry, with no presence of water or any kind of vegetation; however, there are also canyons that are located underwater, as a result of underground rivers, or in the deep oceans because of the strong currents.
Anyway, for today we will only focus on over ground Canyons, showing you the most beautiful, biggest and most wonderful ones.
You will be surprised to see how many Canyons there are in the world, and where exactly they are all located. You might also find that there are one or two not too far from where you are!
What next? Have a look at the following pictures showing this wonderful natural sculptures and pick the one you like the most. Having done that, go on an excursion and go check it out.
