Whale Watching, a unique experience

Surely one of the most beautiful natural shows that Nature is giving us the chance to witness, is whale watching.

Admiring those gigantic cetaceans peacefully swimming in the cold ocean, and helping one another to breathe out of water, is definitely something that you wouldn’t see everyday!

Both in cold and warm currents, whales swim and move across continents, allowing us to see them and hear them singing.

If you are looking for an original and unique vacation, you should definitely book a flight to one of the following destinations and go do some whale watching.

Whether you are on a boat surrounded by ice, or by a hot marine breeze, having the chance to be out there admiring these animals and letting the tranquillity of the environment relax you, is an once-in-a-lifetime experience.

THE BEST SPOTS TO GO WHALE WATCHING

Cunningham Inlet, Nunavut, Canada

In Cunningham Inlet it’s possible to view the Beluga Whales; and the whale watching tour runs from early July until end of August. This place hosts every year over 2,000 Beluga Whales, which during the summer period migrate to this area of the world.

The Azores

When in the Azores, it’s possible to admire the Blue Whales: big cetaceans that weight 200 tons and can reach over 30 metres of length. The tours run continuously; however, during the summer period is harder to spot the whales, so it’s advisable to go between October and March.

Baja California, Mexico

From April until June, the crystal clear waters of Baja California are home to the gigantic Grey Whales (15.5 metres long). Usually these animals migrate to Alaska and back, so when you are going whale watching in the Mexican lagoon; that is when they can actually rest.

Hervey Bay, Australia

Hervey Bay is the perfect spot to view the Humpback Whales. These wonderful cetaceans usually reveal themselves in the period from July to October, as the rest of the year they tend to migrate to warmer places.

Antarctic Peninsula

Minke Whales habit these waters from March until October, as during the winter period they migrate to warmer currents. This tour is quite unique as you will be shown around with a small boat, and because the whales are not afraid of humans, they might come close to you. If you’re lucky enough, you will also be able to touch them!

Strait of Gibraltar, Spain

When in the Strait of Gibraltar it’s possible to spot Pilot Whales, medium-sized cetaceans that look like dolphins. The boat ride to go whale watching in Spain lasts for more or less two hours.
