Amsterdam Light Festival

Amsterdam, a fascinating, captivating and romantic town. We have already spoken about it for example, when we showed you the spectacular “Sail Amsterdam” event through our article :

On 30/11 start another spectacular event in Amsterdam which will continue throughout the Christmas period then ending January 21th 2023 : “The Amsterdam Light Festival”.

This festival born in 2012 but, despite being so very young, it has already become a staple of the annual events of the city of canals…

A first review dedicated to Christmas was held in 2009. Thanks its success, in 2010 took place another event with special lighting dedicated to the most important bridge in the capital and then an impressive parade of light boats called “Winter Magic Amsterdam” has followed!

Based on the positive experiences of previous years and inspired at the most important festival of lights in the world such as Singapore, Lyon and Sydney; in 2012 the first edition of the event in Amsterdam happened.

Thanks to several sponsors, among which the national airline KLM, the festival includes over 30 “light works” performed by various international artists that will make the city even more vibrant than it already is. Of course, everything is a delight for tourists…

The recurring theme of the light installations, over creativity, will must to be the “eco-sustainability” in the sense that every works will must to integrate with the main element of the historical center of Amsterdam:  the water.

To enjoy the festival of light to the maximum, a boat tour through the many city canals is recommended. However, during the two months of the event, the town will organize walking tours that allow you to participate in the many events in museums, galleries and other places like the auditorium… so we just have to wish good fun to everyone who will visit the Dutch capital during The Amsterdam Light Festival 2023/2024!
